UNDER THE SEA ROOM TRANSFORMATION STEP 1:
There is something magical about the ocean. This classroom transformation is one of my favorites because of how special it feels to be in a classroom that looks like it’s under the sea. I found a small blue projector on Amazon for less than $20 that played ocean noises and projected blue waves on the ceiling, which added to this theme.
UNDER THE SEA ROOM TRANSFORMATION STEP 2:
This classroom transformation has ten math challenges, and they are all cut-and-paste. While the math challenges vary per grade level, the gist of the challenges stays the same!
UNDER THE SEA ROOM TRANSFORMATION STEP 3:
Another cool idea I had was to cut out and prep some of the math challenges ahead of time. When students walked over to the turtle challenge, they would see all the turtles spread out on the desk and had to find the turtles they needed. At the shark challenge, students had to find the correct sharks.
Teacher Tip: Printing each challenge on a different colored paper helped keep my kids organized and they didn’t get confused when their cut and glue pieces got dropped on the floor. The pieces were easy to spot and hard to lose which was a win-win situation!
UNDER THE SEA ROOM TRANSFORMATION STEP 4:
Once the students are finished with all the challenges, early-finishers could look around the room and scan the QR codes on each poster. The QR code writing activity contains fun facts about the ocean.

“Extras” certainly aren’t needed for room transformations, but they can be super fun if you want to include them! If you want to add any extras, you may like some of these ideas.
I also offer all room transformations in a DIGITAL format! This means students can complete the challenges on Google Slides if you’d like to save on paper. The QR codes/fun facts also come in a digital game format that students can complete and copy down online. You can learn more about how to do a digital room transformation here.
