There is something so magical about going under the sea! 😍😍😍 I love teaching geometry (my team thinks I’m crazy!) because there’s so many fun activities you can do to identify and categorize shapes.
Today, we did our under the sea classroom transformation to help make some of those basic geometry concepts “click”. I really enjoyed seeing my kids collaborate with each other and ACTUALLY (😆) use their math notebook as a reference time and time again.
It makes my teacher heart SO happy to hear kids say, “No, our math notebook says that a parallelogram has four sides, not six!” or “Polygons can’t have curvy sides! The notebook says so!” 😂👌😌.
You can see all of the fun we had today in my InstaStory! I have this in my store for grades three and four currently. It will be coming soon for grades 1, 2, and 5! 😉❤️ #classroomtransformation #setthestagetoengage #igteachers

Oh my goodness! What a fun time we had in math today! 🎉We began our geometry unit. It was so simple but really helped the kids get a grasp on what each geometry term was.
We started off gluing our vocabulary terms in our notebooks. Then, we read the book Snippets (ADORABLE book by the way that can be used for geometry, character traits, and being different). We finished up with a geometry sorting game called Class Pictures.
To be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of whole group math lessons (math centers = ❤️), but I do truly enjoy doing them once a week when I introduce a new topic to everyone at once. I will definitely be repeating these activities again next year. You can see more in my Instastory 😉!
How do you teach geometry? I’d love to hear from you! #iteachthird #teachersofig #geometry ... See MoreSee Less
I told a friend this morning (who isn’t a teacher) I have five laminators and she didn’t believe me...so I sent her this picture. 🤷♀️😂 #proof #teacherlife #igteachers #teacherstuff ... See MoreSee Less
Are you a “keep it the same” or “change it up” kind of teacher? I think I’m a bit of both! 🤣 I always tell myself that I am going to keep the same decor to make it easy when the new year begins. Then, I think of one small change and it snowballs into big changes.
This picture shows the labels I have used over the last three years. The far right side shows the labels I used in my classroom for several years when I first got the carts.
Last year, I switched most of my carts to the labels on the left side.
Today, I switched all of my labels to the one in the middle 😂. I think it’s so interesting how our interests and likes can change from year to year. How do you decorate your classroom? I’d love to hear from you. 😊 #classroomdecor #iteachtoo #igteachers ... See MoreSee Less

I have now had this cart with these labels for about a year. I use the top two drawers ALL THE TIME and never ended up using the bottom 3 😂. I just throw it all on my desk and tell myself (aka lie to myself 🤣) that I’ll file it later.
I have always, always, always struggled with filing. I tell myself every year I’ll get better about it and never do. Anyone else struggle with this? This is year 7 for me and I don’t feel it getting any better. 😆 Thank goodness for computers because I’m slightly more organized with my documents on there!
This set of rainbow drawers will be getting a makeover tomorrow with new labels. Stay tuned to see what I change them to. I still plan to have them be equally as exciting as these were to me last year. 😂❤️😉 #classroomorganization #classroomdecor #teachersofig ... See MoreSee Less
