âÂÂThis looks so overwhelming.âÂÂ
âÂÂI could never do this!âÂÂ
What if I told you classroom transformations could be EASY to set up, FUN to implement, and STRESS-FREE?
âÂÂLet’s Start with the Basics…What is a Classroom Transformation? âÂÂ
A room transformation changes your room into a certain setting or theme to engage students in their own learning with rigorous content.
Classroom transformations are possible in EVERY classroom. You donâÂÂt have to spend hours of your time setting up a room transformation or spend lots of money to make it SO MUCH FUN!

âÂÂHOW TO USE:âÂÂ
âÂÂSTEP 1: Tell your class they are at a Halloween Haunted House today!âÂÂ
They will complete reading review activities set up around the room. You can do this for a day, a few days, or over the course of a week!
Set-up is quick and easy. Simply print the posters, 10 activities, and a recording sheet for each student. Place them around your room and youâÂÂre ready to begin!
Flexibility is key. Need to modify? No problem!
Choose how many centers students will need to complete and what time frame they have to meet YOUR needs.
âÂÂSTEP 2: Students Complete the Themed ActivitiesâÂÂ
Let students move around the room and complete each center. They can be completed in any order.
An optional recording sheet is included. When a student finishes a center, you sign that spot on their recording sheet to keep track of what they’ve completed.
Freedom to choose. Students can work in partners, rotations, groups, or independently. Your choice!
âÂÂStep 3: When Students FinishâÂÂ
When students finish all the activities you’ve assigned, they win! You can give them the included certificate, coloring page, or a small prize of your choice.
A shopping guide is also included to give you suggestions of optional “extras” you could add in.
Remember, anything different from a “normal” day in the classroom is special to students! A reward at the end isn’t required during a classroom transformation. These kiddos get to go around the room and learn fun facts about the theme of the day! No one is ever bored. Choose from 3 different fun fact versions.
- Digital Scavenger Hunt: Let students “find” the facts on Google Slides
- Printable Fact Posters: Hang fact posters around the room for students to find

âÂÂFrequently Asked Questions (FAQ):àâÂÂ
Can I edit this?
YES! This comes with 4 versions: 1 set of pre-made hands-on centers (not editable), 1 set of pre-made no prep printables (not editable), 1 set of editable no prep printable centers in case you want to change a few pages/questions, and 1 set of blank editable centers if you want to add your own content. This means you could use this room transformation to teach any skill youâÂÂd like using the blank editable version!
Will a classroom transformation cost me a lot of money?
NO! Classroom transformations, or themed-days, do not have to cost you a fortune to complete. In fact, you can use ONLY whatâÂÂs included in this purchase and have a great day with your students! Decor, posters, the academic challenges, and more extras are included so you have more than enough to set the scene. You do not need to spend extra money!
How long will this take to set up?
It depends! Are you going to use all of the decorations provided or just a few? Are you going to buy additional decorations or just whatâÂÂs included? You could set this room transformation up in as little as 10 minutes with just a few included posters printed out and put on the walls. Students LOVE a change from the normal environment and that’s what makes a room transformation special–not how many hours you spend setting it up.
Personally, I like to set aside about 30 minutes before the school day starts to set up my room. Whatever I get done in that time period is what my students get to enjoy. This works perfectly for meâÂÂdo whatever works best for your classroom! The important thing to remember is anything different from a âÂÂnormalâ day is going to be SO much fun for your students and they will love it no matter how much effort you put into decorating.
How long will it take my students to complete the room transformation?
- If you are completing a math room transformation, I would estimate 1-2 hours.
- If you are completing a reading room transformation, I would estimate 1 day to 1 week (depending on how many activities you use).
- IfÃÂ you are combining a math and reading room transformation together, I would allow several hours for students to complete the room transformation or spread it out over the course of the week.***Can I do a room transformation in a shorter amount of time?
These room transformations are made to be flexible! If you only have 30 minutes to an hour to complete the room transformation, youâÂÂre able to use this resource! I include 10 challenges in each room transformation for students to complete. You could easily have students complete 5 (or any number youâÂÂd like) of the challenges to make it work for your time period. You can also have students work independently or in groups to make things go quicker or slower.
Can students complete less than 10 challenges?
Absolutely! Have students complete however many you think are appropriate for your classroom.
When do you recommend doing a room transformation?
The best time to complete a room transformation is at the end of a unit! When youâÂÂve finished a skill and want to provide a fun, informal assessment of what students have learned, this is the perfect activity to pull out! I also love to do room transformations before holidays and on Friday afternoons as a reward for working hard all week.
How do you check student papers during a room transformation?
Students need to come see you to be checked after each academic challenge they complete. To help ease the number of papers you need to check, I suggest trying one of the following ideas:
- having a few answer keys available for students to check themselves
- have early finishers help you check other studentsâ papers
- have students work in small groups or partners (fewer papers to check and students can assist one another)
- check students after every 2 challenges instead of after every challenge
- invite volunteers in on your room transformation day to help
- put challenges together in a packet for easy checking
