Experience the magic in math! The Magician Classroom Transformation will make your students feel like real magicians, rather than only mathematicians. Students have a blast experiencing the magician theme while they practice their math skills. Depending on your classroom needs, students can work individually, in pairs, or in groups. This transformation aligns with common core standards.

To make this room transformation more realistic, I provide the students with top hats. My students’ magician hats came from Amazon and looked so adorable during this transformation. The entire transformation feels magical with the right equipment!
MAGICIAN CLASS TRANSFORMATION STEP 1:
I have included the materials needed for setting up this classroom transformation such as posters, signs, and a magic banner. You can print out all of the decorations provided and place them in the room so students will get an idea of what the concept will be.
MAGICIAN CLASS TRANSFORMATION STEP 2:
When my class first comes in, I tell them that they are magicians in training that need to earn their magic wand. If they solve all ten math problems, they will receive a certificate naming them a true magician and win a magic wand. Depending on the grade level, students will practice different math skills, but the magic stays the same throughout.
MAGICIAN CLASS TRANSFORMATION STEP 3:
After finishing all the challenges, the early finishers can complete the writing activity. The students go around the room and scan the QR codes on each poster. Students who complete all ten math challenges receive a magic wand I bought on Amazon. Giving them a prize motivates them to do well in every activity we complete.
MAGICIAN CLASS TRANSFORMATION STEP 4:
One of the math challenges appealed to the artists in my classroom. Students had to color by number to complete the task and loved getting to explore their creative side. This challenge makes the day feel even more magical.

“Extras” certainly aren’t needed for room transformations, but they can be super fun if you want to include them! If you want to add any extras, you may like some of these ideas.
I also offer all room transformations in a DIGITAL format! This means students can complete the challenges on Google Slides if you’d like to save on paper. The QR codes/fun facts also come in a digital game format that students can complete and copy down online. You can learn more about how to do a digital room transformation here.
