Puzzles are a consistent part of my math centers each month. They’re easy to use, self-checking, and my kids LOVE them! I love to use these back to school math puzzles to help my students practice the skills we teach at the beginning of the year. It helps me see what math skills students learned the previous year and what we need more work with.
Each puzzle pack comes with 10 math fact puzzles. Put the puzzles in your math centers and have students try to complete them all as a fact fluency station. In these back to school math puzzles, each puzzle type comes with twelve puzzles. That means you are getting a total of 72 puzzles which can keep students entertained for a long time. Every puzzle is fall themed to bring the most excitement to your classroom that is perfect for the beginning of the year.
Differentiate for your students! My back to school puzzle pack includes 6 different types of puzzles for students to put together during the back to school season. Some of the puzzles are definitely easier than others. For example, the candy cane puzzle is a lot simpler than the Christmas present. Give each child a puzzle that is on their ability level to best meet their needs.
I don’t know about you but I’m always looking for new bulletin board ideas. I love to print these out, have students glue them back together using their math skills, and then hang them up on a bulletin board or outside our classroom. Crayon, pencil, notebook paper, acorn, apple, and star math puzzles are included that will help your class become more confident in basic 3rd and 4th grade math skills.
The cool thing about these puzzles is there are 2 versions included–puzzles that are filled in and puzzles that are blank. Students can make their own Christmas math puzzles by adding their own facts and then letting them color.
Send these home as a Christmas present. Students love puzzles and always need more help with fact fluency. Give each student a Christmas puzzle that they can take home with them to complete over winter break. This autumn resource is designed for third grade and fourth grade classrooms but would work well in second grade (as enrichment) and fifth grade (as remediation) as well.
